So we have to choose a topic for class for a website. Being in a fraternity and knowing how expansive social networking and the internet is, I am passionate about trying to educate people who do not know about our fraternity. Discussing what us frraters partake in is important because there is more to a fraternity then just parties and having fun. Having a website that shows what TKE represents will help not only our brotherhood, but it would be helping others get a feel for what a group of young men can do with a social background.

Shane,
ReplyDeleteCreating a website about Tau Kappa Epsilon will do exactly as you said and educate people who don't know much about your fraternity. Many people come to college thinking that all you're going to do in a frat. is party. This however, is not the case. I think that it would be an excellent idea to take this topic into effect. I think that you can pull it off as long as you make the site's appearance visually stimulating as well as fun and interesting not only for members of your fraternity, but for people who don't know much about frat. life as well. It's a great way to encourage young men to join as well as educate the community about the fraternity's social background.
I, for one, no very little about the greek life on campus so I think that this website could be very informative for the campus population, especially new students to campus.
ReplyDeleteFraternities are often painted in a bad light, especially in pop culture, so allowing people outside of your fraternity a glimpse inside that world might help to improve peoples views on greek life in general, as well as get people who might not usually be interested to look more seriously into joining.
I think this a a very good idea! So many people see those in Greek Life in a negative way and I'm always for changing those opinions! Of course I'm a little bias towards Greek Life myself, especially TKE, but I know the values that we all have because of Greek Life are something that other people don't realize. This is a great opportunity to show Shepherd campus what TKE is about!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to add "labels" to your blogs. This one should have "COMM 352."
